I recently went gallery hopping in Chelsea and caught two exhibits that were deeply satisfying. You know when you go to an exhibit and can't wait to come back?
Beth Carter's exhibit at Bertrand Delacroix and Richard Serra's exhibit at the Gagosian both managed to strike the same tone of an otherworldly land -- I felt transported to what I can most closely describe as a fairy tale realm. Not your cartoon fairy tale realm where all colors are too loud, but rather a more Arthur Rackham realm - steeped in sepia tones and a nostalgia for things you never knew but wish you had.
Imagine weaving in and out of this metal maze and coming upon Beth Carter's statues? And a glowing horizon in a charcoal haze in the background? Yes - I want to go to there.
