Milo, a solemn 10 year-old boy, wakes up one day to find himself in a strange land, unlike anything he has ever seen before.  Left to his own cunning, he begins a journey to find a place he can call home.  It is a journey that will take him across rivers and mountains; through scorching sun and billowing storms; encountering any number of peculiar characters, some more helpful than others.
